Oh, Audrey Hepburn! How beautiful you are. And Gregory Peck, so debonair, so just. (I can’t picture a more ideal Atticus Finch…which is why I am not planning on reading Go Set a Watchman.) “Roman Holiday” is such a tremendous movie. As a child, I was mesmerized by this plot: a princess steals away for a day to explore a city unrestricted. Today, as more of an adult and less of a child, I continue to love the plot, but more importantly, I feel a particularly strong affinity for Rome! Go figure.
In order to maximize my time here, I am seeking out an Audrey Hepburn-Princess Anne approach to Rome. It may only last for a few days, it is somewhat difficult to live up to the mythology of a beloved, fictional princess, especially in excessive heat, but I am excited to try.
So far, I’ve knocked off three key points: First, I wore a very Audrey-like dress today. With a full skirt and a cinched waist, I felt both totally comfortable and pretty in a new dress from ModCloth. I love ModCloth’s vintage inspired clothes, and definitely appreciate the length
of their dresses. Some are shorter, but a lot go to the knee. In Rome, I find it important to be prepared to enter a religious space at all times. The print was also a great pink, floral pattern. Second, I had gelato! Stracciatella is a sweet gift from the Gods unlike any other. Refreshing, delicious and light enough to make me feel okay about having a mid-morning ice cream, I can’t speak highly enough in favor of it. Third, I ate said gelato on the Spanish Steps! How “Roman Holiday” am I?!
