As the summer begins to wind down, it’s time to start thinking seriously about dorm room decor! Whether you’re stuck in the corner of a triple, or have your own apartment, it’s great to make your space feel like your own. It’s also, importantly, not as hard as you might think. These days, there are a whole bunch of one-stop shops for home decor. For the most part, prices are reasonable, and products are stylish and unique! And the best part? If you stick to a theme, all of this stuff will totally fit in with your next living space. Versus buying a Hummer, this longterm investment is definitely the right move for a young professional or penny-pinching student.
I’ve created three distinct inspiration boards that you can easily work off of. All products are available online at Target, and would make for beautifully decorated bedrooms!
Red and Gold: I love this theme because I’ve always been obsessed with gold accents. I’m so impressed by Target’s side tables, and think that pops of red really bring the room together. Mixing patterns is my favorite, although you have to be comfortable about going overboard.
Blue and Grey: This combination always reminds me of my sister Haley. She loves calm, serene blues and usually complements her bedding with silver or grey light fixtures. The headboards at Target are incredible! Really feeling the structured tufting. And check out those glass lamps! Super versatile.
Rustic Pink: Pink can be tricky, especially as one ages. Pairing pale, muted shades of pink with rustic, wooden furnishings is a great compromise. It’s not overly girly, but it still gets a feminine, elegant point across. I love the combination of shag throws with linen curtains, and a fabulous vintage-inspired rug. Anyone else like throwing together a bunch of different textures?
