I think the pantsuit is one of the best looks around. In fact, it’s so good that I endorse it. I endorse the power pantsuit this election season because it seems to me that, more than usual, a candidate’s attire is getting a whole heap of press coverage. Let’s all takeone second to guess why that is. Dum dee dum dee dum.
But more so than that, pantsuits actually rock. The perfect union of matching pants and top. The comfort of similar fabrics sidled up to one another. The synergy borne of being able to crouch, jump and run at all times. Amazing. Some might say tremendous…But I wouldn’t, because I now refuse to use that word.
I’m grateful for the pantsuit, and I’m especially grateful for a recent opportunity I had to wear my mother’s! Throwing it back to 1989, I found this hysterical green and black, bow-adorned, “Christmas outfit”– as my mom referred to it. (She would like everyone to know that she loves it still, thinks it’s very in, and that she looked tres chic in it.)
Garrett, my sister, mom and I headed over to the “Laugh Your Pantsuit Off” Hillary event this past Sunday evening, and had a blast listening to a whole range of different comedy talent. Amy Poehler and Ana Gasteyer hosted, anddddd I’ve found my new favorite comedian: Kate Berlant. Check her out!
I definitely felt weird walking around NYC in my pantsuit– but only because of the ridiculous shoulder padding. Other than that, uh, a vote for pantsuits is a vote for me?! #VoteForAveCuzShesYourFave (Actual campaign slogan I used in Middle School.)
