I highlighted Alix of Bohemia in a recent blog post, but I wanted to
go a little more in depth into why I love her jackets. Here’s the deal: My friend Hallie is one of the few people on earth that could wear a garbage bag and still look trendy. She takes what I would refer to as ‘fashion risks,’ –a phrase I kind of loathe, but it’s oh so applicable here!– and they always pay off. I love seeing how she dresses for class…and how it totally differs from my roommate’s and my exercise pants. (Hi, Meg! <3) Basically, what I’m trying to say is, Hallie is exceptionally fashionable and I like her clothes.
Hallie is Alix of Bohemia’s ideal girl. She would wear this brand so well, and I would love to see her rocking these cool, mish mashed patterns and military-inspired designs. Every jacket is like a multi-media piece of art, and it really gives me an appreciation for the construction and process behind production.
Each jacket is handmade in New York City with a 10-12-week
delivery wait time—with the exception of the S/M one-of-a-kind jackets, which are available for immediate shipping. The designer also host trunk shows, in which you may try on whatever you’d like! Honestly, I feel like going to a trunk show would be a really fun activity. On par with visiting a museum! The detail and care in these jackets is totally evident to the writer. (What’s so great about online shopping these days is the zoom function!)
Based on a Moda Operandi profile, the designer scours the world for textiles and interesting materials! This explains the global infusion that seems to persist throughout her work. I really can’t get enough, and obsessively check her webpage. Wishing Christmas were sooner…
